What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with Broadway and Hollywood songs written by the pioneer women who staked their claim in the male-dominated land of musicals? These composers and lyricists span more than a century – from Anne Caldwell to Dorothy Fields, from Gretchen Cryer to Jeanine Tesori, from Carolyn Leigh to Lynn Ahrens – and their songs include “On the Sunny Side of the Street,” “I Can’t Give You Anything but Love,” “Deep in My Heart, Dear,” “I Won’t Grow Up,” “Real Live Girl,” “Big Spender,” “Just in Time” and “New York, New York.”
Hosted by Heather Meeker and Nancy Maier with vocalists Ursula Cataan and Cassie Goldbach.
