Put on your zoot suit with the reet pleat… From the mid-1930s through the mid-40s, the sounds of swing echoed in the land – and in Broadway and Hollywood musicals the cats were hep! Our concert features some rare film clips of the Big Bands in film musicals, and as for Broadway, the theater district was only a few blocks away from the cradle of swing on 52nd Street. Jazz exploded on stage and screen, and we’ll take note in songs ranging from “Swinging on a Star” to “Accentuate the Positive.”
