About TMTP

Welcome to The Musical Theater Project

Founded in 2000, TMTP is the only organization in the United States with a multifaceted approach to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of a uniquely American art form.

The Musical Theater Project produces concerts, in-school residency programs, radio programming and recordings that:

  • offer people of all ages a variety of opportunities to explore the American musical – both stage and screen – and discover the links between musicals and American history, American culture and the diversity of the American experience
  • introduce participants to the lives of creators and performers, interpreting and celebrating their work as important American artists
  • lead local, regional and national audiences toward renewed appreciation of the relevance of musicals in contemporary life through personal connections with songs, characters and themes
